Memorial Day Weekend - Part 2

May 23, 2014 (continued)

After the zoo we went back home, met Shawn, packed and headed to the cabin.  We arrived around 5 PM and Shawn mowed the lawn (with Aidan's help!) and Lauren and I unpacked and got the cabin ready.
 Daddy's helper!

After Shawn was done with the lawn, we were starving so went to the local restaurant, The Junction for dinner.
My boys at The Junction

We were ready for dinner!

The next day we got up in the morning and packed everything up to head out for a day on the water at Mark Twain Lake.  We first stopped at the The Hootenany for breakfast.  Talk about a small town diner!  They were short handed, so the cook was also our server!  Breakfast was good though!

After we ate breakfast, we drove down to the marina.  Once there, we unloaded the car, took everything down to the marina, loaded everything on the boat, and then….the battery didn't work!  Oh the joys of owning a boat!  So we unloaded everything from the boat, loaded it back in the car and headed back to the cabin - packed up the cabin and headed home!

Once we got home, me and the kids decided we weren't going to waste the day, so we went to the neighborhood pool.

New shark raft

Lauren's new raft that she picket out.  The water was so cold, I can't believe they swam as long as they did!

Lauren went to sit in one of the lounger chairs and fell right through!

And monkey see, monkey do!

Despite the boat fiasco, it was a great weekend!

Memorial Day

For Memorial Day weekend, we went up to the cabin on Saturday morning.  Now that Shawn has a new car (with 2 TVs/DVDs) it was quite the pleasant ride up there!  It was a hot weekend, but there was a nice breeze blowing, so it was nice sitting out on the front porch.

The kids rode their cars a lot and played with the hose.  Mama Jane brought up a few cute inflatable toys that they had fun playing with.  Shawn found a water frog in the bathtub (better him than me!) and then we headed home on Sunday.  That afternoon we spent at the neighborhood pool.  I was surprised at how well the kids remembered their swimming.  We'll get them lessons again soon, but I think they are destined to be little fishies!

What a cutie!

These two were up to no good!

He just cracks me up - not sure what the Spiderman gloves were all about!

Trying to scare everyone!

Lauren was trying to get away from the boys!

My sweet little niece Libby

Someone immediately crashed when we got home from the pool!

I hope everyone had a great Memorial Day!

Love,
Jennifer

Last Day of School & Memorial Day

It's been a while since I've posted, so I have some catching up to do!

Friday, May 22 - Today was Lauren's last day of school - I can't believe she's already finished her first year! Here we can see how much she's grown...
First Day of School - Last Day of School
I think someone's legs have grown! That's the same skirt!

So I took this day off work because they had a closing ceremony at her school and then a picnic. The closing ceremony was so cute - each of the classes sang several songs and they each got a certificate for completing the year. Lauren's class sang "My God is so Great", "ABC's", "Itsy Bitsy Spider" and "Humpty Dumpty." Here's some pictures...

She's spotted mommy and is quite excited - did I mention she's quite the performer?

She got the cymbols for one of the songs!

After the performance we went to the lawn for a picinic lunch of hot dogs, chips, cookie and juice box (all of Lauren's favorites!). Here's a picture from the picnic and with her teacher from this year, Mrs. Steckler - we just loved Mrs. Steckler!

It's amazing how much Lauren has learned this year. She knows her ABC's, can recognize and write most letters, almost can write her name, she know what letter all of her friend's names start with, has learned about God and Jesus, can count into the twenties, has made her first friends, sang in church twice, has started taking dance and gymnatics. It was a great year!

One final picture in front of the school (her medal is from her running in the Race for Education - thank you to everyone that supported her!)

After the picnic we packed up and went to Mark Twain Lake for the weekend. I didn't take any pictures (I know, bad mommy), but we had a great weekend. We went to the beach on Saturday - which both Aidan and Lauren loved. This was really Aidan's first time in the water at the beach and he couldn't get enough of it! All the kids loved riding around in their cars - Aidan even figured out how to make the cars go - scary! We had a great weekend!
